Drippity

>> Tuesday, September 22, 2009

As the day went on yesterday, I was feeling better and better. Normally, when I'm sick, as the day drags out, I feel worse but I can honestly say that this cold was quite mild. I think it's because it hit over the weekend so I didn't have any hesitation to just sleep, sleep, and sleep some more.

Today I headed to the gym and did my Tuesday workout as planned.
3 rounds:
10 pull-ups
10 handstand push-ups

For one reason or another (maybe still recovering slightly), I could only do 3 pull-ups at a time. Normally I can do 6 before jumping down and starting again. I just didn't have the umph today I guess.

For the HSPush-ups, I did them on the 6th level on the Smith Machine.

My time = 6:08

From there, I did two different exercises- both to work on my grip strength and core strength. It was AMAZING! I loved it and realized I need to do them more b/c I couldn't do a full minute.

The first was the "L sit"- but I prefer to call it the pike. You hang from the bar and put your legs in a pike position- legs straight, bent at the hip until parallel to the floor, and you just hang there... for one minute. Or, if you're me, I had to do 3 20-second sections b/c that's the most I could do. Then I did the same in the "tuck" position so instead of legs straight, your knees are bent. Again, I could only do 20 seconds at a time.

My core was SO ENGAGED! It was super tough!

Give it a try sometime. It's awesome!

Oh, I almost forgot to talk about why the title of my blog post is "drippity"... that's because everytime I'd do a handstand push-up, my nose would drip snot out of it. Obviously, I'm draining from my congestion but it was pretty nasty. Hilarious. But gross.
Until tomorrow,
Kelsalynn
