Extremes that is...
Yesterday, I made our meal plan, our budget, and my workout schedule. I was dedicated to being disciplined with ALL THREE during the month.
Then last night I could not fall asleep. I wake up at 4:45 during the week and here I was staring at 1:00 AM and I was still awake.
I just had a lot on my mind.
I decided to call in sick today. So now I'm here sitting on the couch, watching TV, just relaxing. And at the same time, totally regretting it.
I think I'm just completely burnt out right now. I know this day will be good to have, but the guilt I feel almost makes it not worth it.

Kelsa, how many times have I written this post and how many times have you said to me, "Relax, rest, be better tomorrow. You deserve a day off!" ?
Well girly, you work harder than anyone I know - and that's impressive considering who I'm married to and our lifestyle.
So, rest, relax and take a day off. You deserve it and you're going to be better the rest of the week/month for it.
Chill out, watch tv, and be mellow.
Kelsa there's no point in taking the day off if you're going to wallow in your decision. I tend to beat myself up whenever I take the day off too. But the thing is some part of you knew you needed rest. You have a lot going on right now. So use this day as you should and recooperate in any way that you need to. Just don't beat yourself up for making the right decision.
You shouldn't feel guilty. Enjoy the day off and like the others said, relax.
Plans are great for providing us with direction, but all plans need some flexibility to them. You're not a robot, so you need some days that just don't go as planned.
I agree with Jess. Don't feel guilty, but I would probably feel the same. I too am sitting at home sick with the flu and even regretting calling in sick because I hate sitting around and not being able to do anything.
Call it a "Mental Health Day"... we ALL need those once and a while. :)
I agree with the rest... guilt and worry are a useless waste of mental effort. That's what I try to remind myself when I feel that way... it doesn't always work though :) I hope you were able to enjoy your day despite the way you initially felt about it.
I don't think that you should allow this to affect your outlook on November and the discipline you hope to have. Maybe today's day off will help you hit the ground running for the rest of this month!
If you're feeling burnt out I really wouldn't sweat a rest day - especially when it comes to the workouts. It looks like you've got 6 days in a row planned which is A LOT. You get better when you rest and let your body recover. I'm not sure who said this, and am not sure if it's the exact quote, but I think it totally applies to Crossfit "More isn't always better, better is better". Make sure you're giving yourself time to recover from the workouts (and life in general) - getting enough sleep, eating well, etc. Getting adequate rest will get you a lot further than throwing in an extra workout, I promise. (Totally learned that one the hard way)
Also, it looks like you're sort of following the main site but not really? How are you doing your programming? This upcoming week has a lot of pullups/pushups/situps/squats.
Hey Bacon, normally I do the main site but on a one week lag. I am a bike commuter so it's easier for me to plan without waiting until the last minute the night before to get my things around. Also, I usually workout M-F and not on the weekends, again, because routine is easier to manage- I take a shower at the gym before work, etc ... NOT going to the gym each morning isn't an option so since I have to be there, I arrange my workout schedule to fit.
Normally I do 5 WODs from the main site M-F. Last week, I was lazy though and only worked out 3 days. I missed the Tabata which is one of my all-time favorites so I just added it in on Saturday. 4 of the workouts you see are directly from last week's main site WODs and in the same order. The deadlifts was the other one I skipped last week.
I feel like my day off today was directly related to work, and not exercise. It was more of a mental rest day than a physical rest day. Hell, I haven't worked out in 5 days now so yeah, definitely not my issue! :P
I hope this helps answer some of your questions. I know it's a little "off" but it's what works in our lifestyle right now, which hopefully will only be for another 6 months or less than we'll get a 2nd car and I can workout whenever I want!!!
