Who wants a sweater? or perhaps a potholder?

I love the library. If you haven't checked out your local library, I highly recommend it. And I mean, really check it out...don't just go there and walk around, which is fun too, but really see what kinds of programs they have to offer. My friend Lexi has two daughters and her library has been a huge source of entertainment for them.
I've alluded to a new hobby in a few posts and my first place of reference was the library.
I've decided to take up knitting!
That's right blogville, Kelsalynn is becoming a knitter. Well, at least that's the plan...we'll see how it goes.
I've never even held two needles before, let alone attempted a stitch of any kind. I do not come from a crafty family so this should be quite interesting. =]
I headed to the library and got 3 different how-to DVD's and various books. See for yourself-

Not only did the library have some amazing books, but it also had DVD's, and other lessons/meetings with fellow knitters! How cool right? I only checked out 3 books and 3 DVD's but honestly, there are some books I'm putting on my list if this knitting thing works out b/c there was some neat ideas in them!
You can also see in the picture the yarn I bought to begin practicing with. This new hobby comes from my one of my new goals which is to watch less TV... or if I'm going to be watching TV, then I want to be keeping busy in the process.
Is there a hobby you've always wanted to start but haven't?

PS: I posted a new "recipe"- make sure you check it out!

Congrats on taking up knitting! Personally, I'm not crafty at all.
Great idea! I've been thinking that I should reaquaint myself with our library (now I just have to find my library card... hmmm). Since you've motivated me to work out in the mornings, I'm going to use the free time I have on Friday afternoons to check out our library and find some books to read while Jason watches football all weekend!
Good luck with your knitting! Try not to poke yourself! hee hee!! Let me know when you have your potholder collection for sale!
