December Budget

>> Tuesday, December 1, 2009

Holy Moly! It's December 1st already! Jeesh... where did November go?

First, thank you for all the comments on my last post. I appreciate everyone's thoughts a lot!

I suppose I should post December's budget. I broke it down into 3 categories- the recurring expenses, the expenses that go into a savings account, and then the expenses that are rare to December only.  This made me feel a lot better for two reasons:

1) Although we may not have our Emergency Fund fully funded by the end of the month, we're still putting $2,358 to the fund alone and a total of $2,835 to our sinking funds overall.
2) In December, we have $646 in expenses that we don't normally have. From Christmas gifts to furnace repairs and landscaping, and family visiting... it all adds up and just so happens to land in one month!

Even with a reduced income this coming month, we're still doing really great and cash-flowing/saving more than ever before! Thank you for reminding me of this in your responses to my last post.

I transferred $1,100 over to our Emergency Fund today!

Total Saved = $10,513 = 81.7%

If you only have $700 in extra expenses in December, you are lucky!

I can't believe it's December already as well. I am in the process of throwing my budget together, and possibly using mint.com... seems very user friendly!
