Co-Op
>> Saturday, February 20, 2010
Michael and I placed our first order on Tuesday with a local co-op. It's a group of people who buy fruits and vegetables as a group in order to get a discount.
On Tuesday, you place an order for 1 basket (or as many baskets as you need) and you pick it up on Saturday. Since we make our meal plan on Sundays, it falls perfectly in line with that. Whatever fruits and vegetables we get on Saturday will be used to make our meals for the upcoming week. The cost of 1 basket? $15.
Is it worth it? I'll let you decide... here's what we got this morning for only $15.
The bad news, as the day progressed yesterday, my throat started to get sore...and then more sore. I'm not feeling so hot but trying to nurse myself before getting really sick. It was inevitable- everyone has been sick in my office so it was bound to happen.
Until tomorrow,
Kelsalynn

I am so insanely jealous. Ours won't start up for another month or two. I love it though because it forces you to try new foods and use things you might not normally pick up. It's a fantastic (cheap) way to get a WIDE variety of fruits and veggies. And normally this stuff is fresher than the grocery store. Very cool.
P.S. The stress level you guys have all been operating at? I'm surprised you guys didn't get sick long ago.
Oooh I love the Co Op idea. We have that here but haven't tried it yet. Looks like a good selection!
Feel better soon! There's been something going around here too. Eat lots of those healthy fruits and veggies! HUG
That's awesome!
That's awesome! I need to look into this. I've seen Chicago co-ops online before but it's time to start ordering.
YOU CAN'T GET SICK. Or get sick now, but you have to get better by Friday. Friday is only five days away. FIVE DAYS!
We're in a co-op too and love it! Ours is $19 for about the same amount of goodies, so I like your deal a lot! In SoCal it's www.abundantharvestorganics.com
Cheers, KL!
