Burpee Challenge anyone?
>> Wednesday, March 3, 2010
It's official! I've started my burpee challenge! I almost forgot this is one of my new year's resolutions.
Who's going to join me?
Here's how it works-
Day 1 (today) do one burpee.
Day 2 (tomorrow) do two burpees.
... continue until Day 100 where you complete 100 burpees that day.
Obviously, it's fairly easy at the beginning, but getting into a routine is critical. Toward the end, that's a lot of burpees but they're great for muscle strength, power, fat loss, cardio, etc.
Here are some details:
1. If you are on Day 30, you don't need to do all 30 at once. You can do 10 in the morning, 10 in the afternoon, 10 in the evening. As long as you do 30 that day, you can do them at any time.
2. If you miss a day, you must make them up. So if on Day 12 you are sick, on Day 13, you must do 25 (12+13).
3. After every 25 days, I plan to celebrate with a beer to mark the milestone! I'd love it if you celebrated and completed the challenge right alongside me!
4. The proper burpee is the following movements: squat down, jump back to push-up position, perform push-up, jump back to squat position, jump up. That's one. Yes, you have to do the push-up at the bottom (drop to knees and do a modified one if you want) and jump at the top of the burpee.
If we start today, March 3rd, we will have 29 days in March, 30 in April, 31 in May, and 10 days in June. In other words, the challenge will be complete on June 10th!
Is it going to be easy? No!
Is it going to be worth it? Absolutely!
In other news, my workout last night was fabulous.
4 rounds of 4:
Dumbbell bent over row 25#
Barbell bent over row 50# then 60# for last 3 rounds superset with
Dumbbell bicep curls 15#
Narrow grip pull-ups (UNassisted!) I did ALL 16 UNassisted with narrow grip- I'm totally proud of that b/c it was tough!
Towel pull-ups (assisted, not sure what level, I forgot to write it down)
And in yet other news, we booked our flight yesterday to fly home in May. I'm so excited! We'll be there for 8 days, May 26th-June 2nd. As you can tell, it's right at the end (hardest part) of the burpee challenge. I did that on purpose because I do not want to become a sloth while we're there. This will keep me motivated to workout/be active while away. Our total was just over $500 for our flight so we have $500 left for the rental car.
Let me know if you plan to join me for the burpee challenge!
