Long day but still got it done

>> Wednesday, March 10, 2010

Another long day in the books. I worked until 6:30 (promised Michael I'd leave at 6:00, oops) and got home just in time to pick Michael up then head to the family friend's hotel to pick him up.

His name is Charlie and he was teacher when Michael's PARENTS were students! Then Michael's dad became a teacher and they worked together, which is how Michael knows him. He's a really cool guy and pretty much just goes wherever he wants, whenever he wants. (I was originally under the impression that he lives here, but that's not true). Since he was in Phoenix, he looked us up, and I'm glad he did.

He also played the organ at all of the school functions/town programs where Michael grew up so it's only fitting that he took us to a restaurant called "Organ Stop Pizza." If you would have told me this place was for real, I wouldn't have believed you. It's a huge room with tall ceilings and one of the largest organs I've ever seen. There's a stage that goes up and down and a guy essentially sits there and plays the organ. And what do you order to eat of course? Pizza. I mean, what else would you eat while sitting and listening to a dude play an organ?

Here's a pic I took from their website- it doesn't really show you the true size of this place however.

We were there until after 9 and good ol' Charlie would have stayed later! He was a hoot! The place was packed for a Tuesday night, I couldn't believe it. We got home and didn't even turn on the TV. I went straight upstairs to get ready for bed. I brushed my teefers, washed my face, changed into pj's, then what did I realize?

I have 7 burpees to do! ARGH!

So, at 9:59 PM, in my pj's, not wearing a bra even, I did my 7 burpees.

I got them done and that's all that matters!

On the financial front, I'm finally starting our taxes for 2009. Because of Michael's gig with the Harlem Globetrotters where he was paid as an independent contractor, I knew we'd probably owe in this year. Currently, we owe almost $2,000 which totally sucks. Luckily for us, our expenses are only 40% of our income in any given month so we'll be able to cash flow this, but expect to see this expense budgeted for April! Darn!
Until tomorrow,
KelsaLynn

Wait? Charlie the piano teacher? That Charlie? My mom had him. Michael and I had him in middle school? Is that the Charlie? You gotta give us last names here, Kelsa - for those of us who might know these folks. Random fact - my mom and Mike's dad graduated high school together.

I went to an organ pizza place like that when I was a kid! In fact, I think it was in Portland? I gotta look into this!

Wow! Turns out the place in Portland closed and the Organ Stop in Mesa got some of the parts! Weird!

That organ pizza place looks cool! You should have gone up and showed off what you've learned at your piano lessons! haha kidding...

Way to get a hold on Murphy and not let the taxes get you down!! We're doing the same thing!!

That sounds like the most awesome pizza place ever. I'm glad you two had fun with Charlie.

And way to go on those burpees! Did you ever think of doing them when you first get up in the morning so there's no way you'd forget to do them throughout the day? Just a thought.

I almost always just read your blog on my google reader, so I forget to comment, but I did want to tell you way to go on doing your burbees right before bed! I was kinda thinking about maybe doing my own little pushup challenge similar to what you're doing....but haven't decided yet. that dinner place looks fun, glad you had a good time!

Are we talking Charlie Willer? If so, he was a great friend of my great grandparents and my grandma. I had him in middle school and so did my mom. He can be a bit of a perv! lol... so glad to see that he's doing well!
