To-Do List

Got tonight's workout done and added my 13 burpees!
5 rounds of 4:
Dumbbell bench press 25#s
superset with
Plyometric pushups- rolled a medicine ball from one side to the other (2 push-ups each arm each round)
Push press 75#
Bench dips with my feet on a ball
I'm proud of myself because I really added some weight tonight. The last time I did the bench press, I used 20# dumbbells so I added 5#s each arm. And my push press was about 10#s higher than last time.
My arms were noodly that's for sure! I'm glad I didn't wait until the end of the night to do my burpees or I would have been in trouble!
I'm not sure what my deal's been lately but I've just been feeling on edge. Yeah, "on edge" is a good way to describe it. Maybe it's hormones, maybe it's my diet (which hasn't been the greatest lately, I should confess), I think a lot of it has to do with work too. It's probably a combination of everything. I decided I need some short term goals to get through each day or week. It's like there's so much I feel like I need to do that I either don't do anything because I'm overwhelmed or I do 10 things but still go to bed feeling as if I haven't accomplished enough.
A while ago I used to implement a to-do list daily with 3 things on it and I'm bringing it back! I'm also making a weekly goal list. I'm not sure how long I'll keep this up, but at least until I start to feel less overwhelmed and stressed out.
Weekly Goals:
1. Call old Property mgr (still haven't received security deposit) DONE!
2. Practice the piano twice
3. Do cardio 3 times
4. Only eat out once (meeting over lunch on Monday)
5. Do not work past 6:00 at all (very difficult especially considering I'm taking a few days off next week!)
And here's tonight's "chores":
1. Grocery shopping (few misc items needed) DONE!
2. Workout DONE!
3. Dishes DONE!
4. Balance checkbook
5. Upload pics online & order prints DONE!
Okay, okay, so tonight has more than 3 things but I felt like they were all necessary. So far I've done everything except balancing my checkbook but I'll do that soon. Then, I plan to go upstairs and read for a little bit and just relax.
Hopefully my new approach will help me feel more organized and at least with a plan. For now.
Until tomorrow,
Kelsalynn

It is nice to be able to have a list that you can check things off of and feel as though you have accomplished specific tasks.
Nice job with the workout.
I love to-do lists. Sometimes when I am feel really overwhelmed with paperwork and assessing, I make to-do lists with even the littlist things on there, so I feel so much better when I check anything off of it! :)
I really like your goal to not work past 6. I think that you burn the candle at both ends sometimes and need to cut yourself some slack. But hey, no going in at 5am to make up for it ok :) your 3 bosses will have to find someone else to bug !
Here's a book you might like:http://www.pragprog.com/titles/snfocus/pomodoro-technique-illustrated
It's about breaking your day into shorter segments and making sure you get breaks. It's a pretty cool technique - one that both Travis and I use, especially when things get crazy. It also talks about daily to-do's in a way that has been a HUGE help to me.
You can probably get it from your library and I know you can get it from Amazon. Or if ya want, I'll send ya my copy!
