New Car!!!!

I'm excited to announce that we will finally be a 2-car household again! Yippy!
After our experience this past weekend, I came into work and looked at the cars we have for sale. Yes, my company sells cars as one line of business...you're probably wondering why I didn't look here sooner. Well, see, it's a little awkward to me that everyone will know I paid cash for a car. I work in the Accounting department and we do the accounting for this particular line of business so I know some of my employees will see my sale. They will see that it's a cash sale. By no means am I ashamed of paying cash, but I don't want them to think I make a buttload of money or whatever else they may assume. So I've sort of steered clear of this option until now.
We decided on a Toyota Matrix. It's white with 33K miles. Here are some pictures of what it looks like but I'll take some when I get home of our actual car. You get the idea-
It's kind of sporty and has a lot of room yet great gas mileage- 30mpg. There's nothing fancy about it but we're not really fancy people so I'm okay with that.
Here's the breakdown of cost-
Cost - $12,998.00
Doc Fee - $149.00
Registration - $169.19
Taxes - $1,182.82
TOTAL = $14,499.01 (UNDER BUDGET!!!!!!!!!!)
We also have to add insurance (obviously) and we've decided to do full coverage although we don't have to since we're not financing anything. I was shocked at how low our quote was for 6 months of insurance on the car! I'm so excited!
INSURANCE = $428.96 (for 6 months)
Total budgeted = $15,286.86
Total spent = $14,927.97
UNDER BUDGET BY $358.89!
I'm sure we'll go buy some things for the car like a steering wheel cover or seat covers so I know we will spend a bit of that $358.
I'm really proud of us for coming in under budget and so excited to have a "new" car! I'll take pictures tonight of the actual car so you can see it!
Until then,
Kelsalynn

Wahoo! I am so happy you found something. And I say who cares if your empolyees know you paid cash. You worked your butt off to get where you are. I'm just sorry you had to spend so much time with the other stupid car salemsan. But hey, it made for great blog fodder.
Yay! That's awesome, Kelsa. We drive a Matrix and I think it's a great car. Good choice. Super proud of you for coming in under budget - that's amazing.
LOVE it!!!
Great job on the new car! I read your post about car hunting and that was CRAZY! I'll have to get a new (to me) car in the next few years I'm sure so it was good to read and know what to avoid.
